This is a small growing Aechmea native to Brazil. When in flower the entire center of the plant glows a bright red. The individual flowers are a light lavender and project slightly above the center of the plant. After flowering, the color in the center of the plant fades but the stiff flower bracts retain their bright red color and continue to project above the center of the plant. The bases of the short, slightly corrugated leaves are a very dark purple giving the plant a round apperance. Shipped as mature, bareroot off-set.
